Pho Thin Bo Ho was officially demolished and moved to a new address after 71 years of attachment to the original address on Dinh Tien Hoang street.

Alley 61 Dinh Tien Hoang, where Pho Thin Bo Ho restaurant is located, is in the clearance area to serve the "Van Hien Avenue" project and the park - square area east of Hoan Kiem Lake.

On the evening of January 19, the restaurant was officially demolished, parting ways with the old address that had been attached for more than seven decades.

Mr. and Mrs. Bui Chi Thanh - the 3rd generation preserving the family-owned pho restaurant, expressed emotion when they had to say goodbye.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Thu, Mr. Thanh's wife, shared: "My family knew the restaurant was destroyed about 2 hours before. At that time, we tried to sell the last bowls of pho at the old address, then cleaned up pots and pans, kitchen utensils not attached to the wall. All items and furniture stuck to the wall were removed along with house number 61 Dinh Tien Hoang.

On the last days, many customers come to this pho restaurant to eat, drink, and take souvenir photos. "Thin Bo Ho Pho Restaurant has existed for more than 70 years, preserving many memories of generations of people in that way," Ms. Thu recounted.

Previously, knowing that the pho restaurant was in the clearance area, from March 2025, Ms. Thu and her husband tried to find a new location. 3 months ago, his family opened a restaurant at 19 Hang Voi. The new address has a spacious and more spacious space, so that customers both at home and abroad can come to enjoy the traditional pho.

The pho restaurant has existed for a very long time, from grandparents to parents, and now it is passed down to my husband and me. I hope the Pho Thin Bo Ho brand will last for hundreds of years, even forever. Later, the family will try to pass on the fire of the craft to our children and grandchildren, so that the traditional pho flavor will not fade away," the family representative expressed.

The restaurant representative affirmed that no matter where the address is moved, Pho Thin restaurant will be associated with the two words Hoan Kiem Lake. Because that is a brand that has been associated with her family for many years, so that customers can remember and find the right brand.

In addition to the address in Hang Voi, the extended family also has two other establishments managed by uncles and cousins, respectively at No. 1 Le Van Huu and No. 1 Hang Tre. These are also familiar addresses for many diners.

Thin Bo Ho Pho started selling in 1955, initially just a small pho stall with a few sets of tables and chairs. However, the characteristic processing method and delicious, traditional flavor quickly made the restaurant popular with domestic and foreign diners.

Over time, the pho restaurant has become a special highlight on the culinary map of Hanoi's Old Quarter. After more than 70 years, Pho Thin Bo Ho has closed its journey at alley 61 Dinh Tien Hoang, opening a promising new chapter.
