On May 28, information from the Management Board of Kim Lien Special National Relic Site (Nghe An) said that after being inaugurated during the 2026 Sen Village Festival, the 9-story waterfall at the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan has received special attention from a large number of tourists because of its unique design and profound humanistic messages conveyed in each item.
Located in the space of Dong Tranh mountains and forests, the resting place of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan - President Ho Chi Minh's mother, the project is considered a new landscape highlight of the Kim Lien Special National Relic Site.
The uniqueness of the project lies in the way of telling the story of the Vietnamese mother in architectural language. The entire project, including the central lake, the stream - waterfall system and scenic walking paths, is harmoniously designed, inspired by familiar images associated with Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan's life.
At the center is a 21-meter wide lake shaped like a mirror, symbolizing the noble and pure life of the mother who gave birth to and raised President Ho Chi Minh. Surrounding the lake are stylized lines from the traditional headscarf of Vietnamese women. At the bottom of the lake is a lotus leaf motif and 9 prominent yellow lotus flowers, creating an elegant and meaningful beauty.
One of the most impressive items is the stream - waterfall system about 100m long. The water source is led from natural streams flowing through the area of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan's tomb and Nguyen Sinh Xin's tomb, then poured through stone steps forming 9 consecutive layers of waterfalls.
According to the Management Board of Kim Lien Special National Relic Site, the number 9 symbolizes "nine words of cù lao", showing the merit of parents' birth and nurturing. The soft water flowing through the waterfalls is likened to breast milk, meaning love, sacrifice and the tolerance of Vietnamese mothers.
The project started construction in November 2023, completed and inaugurated in May 2026 on the occasion of the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth. Total investment of more than 34 billion VND from the sponsorship of T&T Group.
Not only possessing unique architecture, the 9-story waterfall also contributes to enriching the cultural space at Kim Lien Relic Site, becoming a meaningful tourist destination, contributing to educating patriotism, gratitude and the morality of "drinking water, remembering the source" for today's generations.
