Tropical depression officially forms in the East Sea

The low pressure area within the Philippines' responsibility area has officially strengthened into a tropical depression when entering the East Sea.

According to storm news, the latest low pressure from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), a low pressure has strengthened into a tropical depression as it enters the East Sea.

As of 4 am this morning, the center of the tropical depression is located at about 14.5 degrees North latitude - 119.4 degrees East longitude, about 115 km southwest of Abucay, Bataan.

The strongest wind near the center of the low pressure reached 45 km/h, gusting up to 55 km/h. The tropical depression is moving in the Northwest direction at a speed of about 25 km/h. Strong winds extending outside the center of the tropical depression up to 150 km.

The tropical depression is forecast to have a high probability of developing into a storm in the next 24 hours. If it becomes a storm, this will be the number 1 storm forming in the East Sea in this year's storm season.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of a tropical depression, on July 1st day and night, the sea area from Lam Dong to Vinh Long; east of the Central East Sea area, the South East Sea area (including Truong Sa special zone): Southwest wind gradually strengthens to level 6, gusts level 7-8, rough seas. Sea waves 2.0-3.0m high.

East of the Northern East Sea area: South to Southeast wind gradually strengthens to level 6, gusts level 7-8, rough seas. Sea waves 1.5-2.5m high.

The Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area southeast of the Northern East Sea, the Central and Southern East Sea (including the Truong Sa special zone), the sea area from Lam Dong to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang, and the Gulf of Thailand have scattered showers and thunderstorms. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind at level 7-8; sea waves over 1.5m high.

On July 2nd day and night, the Northern East Sea area (including the Hoang Sa special zone) has strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 8-9; strong rough seas; sea waves 3.0-5.0m high.

The Central East Sea area has strong winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusts of level 8-9; strong rough seas; waves 2.0-4.0m high.

The sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau, the sea area west of the South East Sea (including the sea area west of Truong Sa special zone) has strong southwest winds of level 6, gusts of level 7-8; rough seas; waves 2.0-3.0m high.

People and tourists planning to visit these sea areas should closely monitor the weather forecast. Follow local instructions and avoid going to sea when the sea is rough to ensure safety throughout the journey.
