According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the morning of September 12, the tropical depression in the East Sea approached the mainland of the Central region.
Forecast to 7:00 AM on September 13th, the center of the tropical depression is likely to be at about 16.6 degrees North latitude - 109.2 degrees East longitude, over the sea area of Hue city - Da Nang city, about 110km east-northeast of Da Nang city. The intensity of the tropical depression is maintained at level 6, gusting at level 8.
Due to the influence of the tropical depression, day and night of September 12, the sea area west of the Hoang Sa special zone and the sea area from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai: Strong winds at level 6, gusts at level 8; rough seas. Sea waves 2.0-4.0m high.
Northern Gulf of Tonkin and sea area from Thanh Hoa to Nghe An: Strong winds at level 6, sometimes level 7, gusts at level 8; strong rough seas. Sea waves 2.0-3.0m high.
On land, on the day and night of September 12, the area from Ha Tinh to northern Quang Tri will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, rainfall 40–80mm, locally over 150mm.
From the South of Quang Tri to Da Nang City and the East of Quang Ngai, there will be heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, rainfall of 100–200mm, locally over 300mm.
Day and night of September 13, area from southern Nghe An to Hue City: heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, rainfall 80-180mm, locally over 300mm.
Thanh Hoa to North Nghe An, Da Nang City and East Quang Ngai have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, rainfall 30-70mm, locally over 120mm.
The Northern Delta has moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, rainfall of 20-40mm, locally over 60mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain intensity over 100mm/3h.
In addition, on the day and night of September 12, the eastern provinces from Gia Lai to Lam Dong, the Central Highlands and the South will have rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, rainfall of 20-40mm, locally over 80mm. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Currently, the flood on the Dong Nai River (Dong Nai city) at Ta Lai station is receding slowly and above alarm level (AL)2. At 07:00 on September 12, the water level at Ta Lai station was 112.52m, 0.02m above AL2.
In the next 24 hours, floods on the Dong Nai River will continue to recede slowly and at below alarm level 2. Risk of flooding in low-lying riverside areas and riverbank and stream erosion in the Dong Nai River basin in Dong Nai province.
From today (September 12th) to September 16th, floods are likely to occur on rivers from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang city. During this flood, the peak flood level of the Ngan Sau and Ngan Pho rivers (Ha Tinh) will rise to alarm level 2-alarm level 3; upstream of the Buoi River, Ma River, Chu River (Thanh Hoa), upstream of the Ca River (Nghe An), rivers in Quang Tri will rise to alarm level 1-alarm level 2 and above alarm level 2; rivers in Hue city, Vu Gia River (Da Nang city) will rise above alarm level 1.
High risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and urban areas, landslides on slopes in provinces/cities from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang city.
People and tourists in affected areas need to closely monitor the developments of the tropical depression, limit movement through deep flooded areas, rivers and streams, and areas at risk of flash floods and landslides.
Boats and ships need to proactively avoid shelter, not operate in areas with strong winds and big waves; tourists should consider adjusting their schedules when the weather becomes bad.
