Tropical depression makes landfall, forecast of the heaviest rain in the next 24 hours

The tropical depression weakened by storm No. 15 will make landfall in Vietnam tonight, December 3. Weather forecast for the South Central region: heavy rain.

According to the latest weather forecast from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon (December 3), the center of the tropical depression was at about 12.9 degrees North latitude - 110.0 degrees East longitude, in the waters of Dak Lak - Khanh Hoa. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 6 (39-49km/h), gusting to level 8. The low pressure is moving in the West Southwest direction, at a speed of 15-20km/h.

Weather forecast until 7pm tonight, the tropical depression will enter the coastal areas of Dak Lak - Khanh Hoa provinces. The tropical depression is moving southwest at a speed of 25-20 km/h and weakening into a low pressure area. The strongest wind near the center of the low pressure is below level 6.

Due to the influence of the tropical depression, the sea areas of Dak Lak - Khanh Hoa provinces will have strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8; waves 2.0-4.0m high, rough seas.

On land, the areas of Hue, Da Nang and Gia Lai provinces/cities have had moderate to heavy rain such as: Bach Ma National Park 96mm (Hue City); Tra Kong 61.0mm (Da Nang City); Phu My 100mm (Gia Lai)...

It is forecasted that in the afternoon and evening of December 3, the above provinces will continue to have rain with accumulated rainfall from 20-50mm, some places over 80mm. Risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in many communes/wards at:

The area from South Quang Tri to Da Nang, the East of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will have moderate rain, heavy rain, rainfall of 40-100mm, locally over 150mm.

Forecast for the day and night of December 4, the area from South Quang Tri to Da Nang and the East of Quang Ngai will have moderate rain, heavy rain, rainfall of 40-80mm, locally over 50mm. Risk of heavy rain over 100mm/3 hours.

In addition, on the day and night of December 3, the Central and Southern highlands will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 10-30mm, locally over 80mm.
