The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is strong at level 7, from 50-61km/h, gusting at level 9. The tropical depression is moving mainly in the Northwest direction at a speed of about 5km/h.
Due to the influence of the tropical depression, strong winds of level 7, gusting to level 9 were recorded in Bach Long Vi special zone. In Co To (Quang Ninh), strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 9.
In the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in the North direction at a speed of 3-5km/h. By 7:00 AM on August 22, the center of the tropical depression is forecast to be at about 20.8 degrees North latitude - 108.5 degrees East longitude, over the area north of the Gulf of Tonkin, about 190km east of Hai Phong and about 120km northeast of Bach Long Vi special zone.
The tropical depression is likely to strengthen into a storm, with intensity level 8, gusts level 10. Disaster risk level: level 3 for the Gulf of Tonkin area, including Bach Long Vi, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai special zones and Hon Dau island.
By 7:00 AM on August 23, the storm is forecast to move in a westerly direction at a speed of 3-5km/h. The storm's center is likely to be at about 20.8 degrees North latitude - 108.1 degrees East longitude, over the sea area north of the Gulf of Tonkin, about 150km east of Hai Phong and about 100km north of Bach Long Vi special zone.
The storm intensity is forecast to be level 8, gusting to level 10. The Gulf of Tonkin area continues to be warned of disaster risk level 3.
From the next 48-72 hours, the storm is likely to change direction, moving slowly south at a speed of about 3-5km/h.
At sea, the Gulf of Tonkin area, including Bach Long Vi, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai special zones and Hon Dau island, has strong winds of level 6-7. The area near the storm center is strong at level 8, gusting at level 10. Sea waves are 2.5-3.5m high, strong sea waves.
