According to the latest storm news from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), on the evening of January 12, Typhoon Dudzai strengthened into a super typhoon in the Indian Ocean.
The center of super typhoon Dudzai is located about 1,202 km south-southeast of Diego Garcia. In the past 6 hours, the super typhoon has moved in a South-Southeast direction at a speed of 4 km/h. The maximum wave height reached 7.3 m.

Forecast for the next 24 hours, super typhoon Dudzai will turn west, then continue to move in this direction for the next 4 days. The strongest wind near the storm center reaches 185 km/h.
Super typhoon Dudzai is forecast to continue to strengthen in the next 12 hours due to its very favorable environment. The maximum wind intensity may reach 205 km/h. However, in reality, the wind strength of the super typhoon may be much stronger.
In the next 36 hours, super typhoon Dudzai will gradually weaken, but still strong at a hurricane level (wind speeds of about less than 180 km/h).
Because it is located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, the super typhoon has little impact on the mainland areas of countries in the region.
However, people and tourists who plan to go to the sea areas where the super typhoon passes through should pay attention to weather forecasts. Follow local instructions and avoid going out when the sea is rough to ensure safety throughout the journey.
