According to the latest storm information, the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) is monitoring Typhoon No. 2 SEPAT forming from a tropical depression in the Philippine Sea on Tuesday morning, June 24 Japanese time.
The center of the storm is about 589 km from Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
Maximum winds near the center of the storm will remain at about 65km/h, gusting up to 80km/h. The storm is moving northwest at a speed of about 20km/h.
Typhoon SEPAT is forecast to weaken as it approaches Chichijima Island in Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo, Japan today.
The tropical depression is then likely to continue moving north near the Izu Islands and affect the Kanto-Koshin region around June 26.
