According to the new low pressure forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration ( pagasa), at 8:00 p.m. on June 23 (local time), the low pressure in the East Sea at about 14.1 degrees North latitude - 118.9 degrees East longitude is causing widespread heavy rain.
The Philippine Meteorological Agency forecasts that the low pressure is unlikely to strengthen into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
Due to the influence of the low pressure, there will be scattered thunderstorms in the areas of Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan of the Philippines. During thunderstorms, there is a risk of flash floods or landslides.
The low pressure has not affected the weather at sea and on land in Vietnam.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of a low pressure trough with an axis passing through the Central East Sea, on the night of June 23 and June 24, the Central and South East Sea (including the sea area of Truong Sa archipelago), the sea area from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand will have showers and thunderstorms.
The sea area from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau has strong southwest winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7; waves from 1.5-2.5m high; rough seas.
Fishermen and tourists should be on guard during thunderstorms with the possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7 and waves over 2.0m high.
Ships operating in the above areas need to pay special attention to the risk of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind and large waves causing unsafety.
Meanwhile, Typhoon SEPAT is moving north-northeast at a speed of 25km/h towards the southern waters of Japan. The center of the storm is located at about 27.2 degrees North latitude - 143.3 degrees East longitude, with strong winds of 75km/h, gusting up to 90km/h.
