Forecast from the night of May 19 to May 21, the Northeast region, Phu Tho South, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An enter a widespread heavy rain phase with common rainfall from 50-150mm, locally over 300mm.
Specifically, from the night of May 19 to May 20, the Northeast, Southern Phu Tho and Thanh Hoa will have common rainfall from 20-50mm, locally over 100mm.
From the night of May 20 to May 21, rain tends to increase in the Northeast, Southern Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An with common rainfall from 30-60mm, locally over 200mm.
The Northeast region has common rainfall from 50-100mm, locally exceeding 200mm.
In the late afternoon and night of May 19, the Northwest region, from Nghe An to Hue City, the South Central Coast, the Central Highlands and the South continued to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with locally heavy rain over 80mm.
In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. The level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning and hail is warned at level 1, especially Quang Ninh province at level 2.
According to the forecast of the meteorological agency, heavy rain in the areas is likely to gradually decrease from the night of May 21. However, during the prolonged rain, the risk of green trees uprooting, road subsidence and deep flooding in urban areas can still occur, especially in the late afternoon and evening hours.
People and tourists are advised to closely monitor weather reports, carefully check travel schedules before passing through areas predicted to have extreme weather phenomena.
