The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has updated the weather forecast for May 24th in the Northwest regions.
- Lowest temperature: 25-28 degrees, in some places below 24 degrees C.
- Highest temperature: 35-37 degrees, in some places above 37 degrees C.
Cloudy, hot sunny day, in some places intense heat; showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening and at night. Light wind. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

If you are about to explore the Northwest during the current hot spell of intermittent rain and thunderstorms, you should prepare carefully so that the trip is both safer and more comfortable:
- Limit trekking or long mountain passes in the middle of the day.
- Bring enough water, electrolytes and a wide-brimmed hat because the temperature can rise above 37°C, easily causing dehydration and heatstroke.
- Prepare thin windproof jackets and light raincoats because showers and thunderstorms can easily appear in the late afternoon in mountainous areas.
- If riding a motorbike through mountain passes, check the brakes, tires and lights before the trip because the road may be slippery after rain.
- Avoid sheltering from rain under large trees or standing in an empty place when there is a thunderstorm to limit the risk of lightning and strong gusts of wind.
- Follow the weather forecast every day because the weather in the Northwest changes quite quickly, especially in the late afternoon.
- Prioritize light, breathable clothes and anti-slip shoes if you plan to trek or go to waterfalls or streams.
- Don't forget sunscreen, sunglasses and multi-purpose towels because UV rays and background heat are at high levels.
- When visiting terraced fields, streams or waterfalls after rain, pay attention to slippery soil and rocks and water that may rise quickly.
- There should be a backup plan for the travel schedule if heavy rain, hail or strong thunderstorms occur in the late afternoon.
