The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has updated the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (April 12) in regions across the country.
On April 12-13, hot weather will continue to be intense on a large scale, many areas will experience particularly intense hot weather with very high temperatures and low humidity, causing a feeling of stuffiness and hotness.
In the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue City, the highest temperature is commonly from 38-40 degrees C, in some places above 40 degrees C; the lowest humidity is only about 35-40%. This is the area most affected by the harsh heat in this period.
The Northwest region, Da Nang and the east of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak recorded high temperatures of 36-38 degrees C, with some places above 38 degrees C; humidity fluctuating from 40-45%.
Meanwhile, the South of the Northern Delta, Central Highlands and Southern regions have temperatures from 35-36 degrees C, in some places exceeding 37 degrees C; common humidity is 45-50%.
The remaining areas in the Northeast region will experience localized hot weather with temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius.
According to the latest weather forecast, widespread heat will continue in the coming days. However, from around April 15-16, the Northern, Central Highlands and Southern regions tend to gradually reduce the intensity of heat. For the Central region, the heat is expected to gradually subside from around April 17.
This heat wave is assessed at disaster risk level 1 in most areas. The area from Nghe An to Quang Tri has a higher warning level, at level 2.
Prolonged heat increases the risk of fires and explosions due to increased electricity demand while air humidity decreases, posing a risk of fires in residential areas as well as forest fires.
At the same time, hot weather also directly affects the health of people and tourists, easily causing dehydration, exhaustion and increasing the risk of stroke due to heat shock when exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
