According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the evening of July 23 to July 25, many areas across the country experienced moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms, posing a risk of flooding, flash floods and landslides. Tourists planning to visit, trek or travel through mountainous areas need to regularly update weather information to ensure safety.
In the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region and Quang Ninh, rain is common from 70-150mm, in some places over 300mm. The remaining localities in the Northern region have rainfall from 40-100mm, locally over 150mm.
From the evening of July 24 to July 25, Thanh Hoa will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 30-70mm, in some places over 150mm. The meteorological agency warns of the risk of heavy rain intensity over 100mm in just 3 hours.
In the evening and night of July 23, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, the Central Highlands and Southern regions also had scattered showers and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 10-30mm, in some places over 50mm. From July 24, rain in the Central Highlands and Southern regions tends to increase, common rainfall of 20-40mm/24 hours, locally over 80mm/24 hours.
It is noteworthy that in the next 6 hours, there is a risk of flash floods, landslides and subsidence at slopes and small streams in some areas of Da Nang City such as Chien Dan, Dong Duong, Lanh Ngoc, Phu Ninh, Que Son, Que Son Trung, Tay Ho, Tien Phuoc and Tra Lien. Tourists should limit moving to hilly areas, streams, waterfalls or camping in places with steep terrain during heavy rain.
According to forecasts, heavy rain in the North will gradually decrease from the night of July 25. However, in the coming days, thunderstorms may still be accompanied by tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind, with disaster risk level at level 1.
