According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from now until July 25, many areas across the country will continue to experience thunderstorms, in which the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region will have moderate to very heavy rain. Tourists planning to travel, explore nature or travel through mountainous provinces need to proactively monitor weather developments to ensure safety.

On the night of July 23 and July 24, the Northern region, the Central Highlands and Southern region recorded widespread showers and thunderstorms. Especially in the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region, there were places with very heavy rain, with rainfall exceeding 100 mm such as Ha Lang (Tuyen Quang) 161.8 mm, Cam Nhan (Lao Cai) 137 mm, Ha Hoa (Phu Tho) 128 mm and Quan Chu (Thai Nguyen) 125.8 mm.

From the evening of July 24 to the end of July 25, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien and Son La provinces will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 30-60 mm, locally over 180 mm. The remaining areas of the Northern region, along with Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, rainfall of 15-30 mm, locally over 80 mm.

In the late afternoon and night of July 24, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang city will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 10-30 mm, in some places over 50 mm. Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and Southern regions will continue to have rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, rainfall of 20-40 mm, locally heavy to very heavy rain over 100 mm.

Notably, the meteorological agency warns of the risk of heavy rain intensity above 80 mm in just 3 hours. In thunderstorms, there may be tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, affecting outdoor sightseeing activities.

In the next 6 hours, there is a high risk of flash floods, landslides and subsidence on slopes and small streams in Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang and Quang Ninh provinces. Tourists should limit trekking, camping, exploring waterfalls or traveling through mountain passes and roads during heavy rain.

According to forecasts, heavy rain in the North will gradually decrease from the afternoon of July 25, but the Central Highlands and Southern regions will still maintain moderate rain, with heavy rain in some places accompanied by thunderstorms.

Experts recommend that tourists should regularly update weather forecasts, check traffic conditions before departure and flexibly adjust their itinerary if the destination is located in areas at risk of flooding, flash floods or landslides to ensure a safe trip.
