According to the provisions of the 2019 Labor Code, workers in Vietnam are entitled to leave work and receive full salary on holidays and Tet every year. After the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday, workers continue to have important holidays such as Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Southern Liberation Day, National Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1).
In 2026, the Hung Kings Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month) falls on Sunday, April 26th of the solar calendar. Due to coinciding with the weekend holiday, workers have compensatory leave on Monday (April 27th). Thus, including the two weekend days, this holiday lasts 3 consecutive days, from Saturday, April 25th to the end of Monday, April 27th.

Next, the Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30th) and International Labor Day (May 1st) 2026 fall on Thursday and Friday respectively. For agencies and units with fixed Saturday and Sunday holidays, employees will have 4 consecutive days off, from Thursday, April 30th to the end of Sunday, May 3rd.
Due to the close gap between the two holidays, workers only work for 2 days (April 28 and 29) after the Hung Kings Commemoration holiday before entering the next holiday on April 30 - May 1.
With a holiday lasting about 3-4 days, many tourists prioritize choosing destinations not too far to facilitate travel and optimize rest time. In the North, short-day routes such as Ha Giang (Tuyen Quang), Cao Bang, Sa Pa or Mu Cang Chai (Lao Cai) or Moc Chau (Son La) attract tourists thanks to majestic mountain scenery and cool climate.
In addition, destinations near Hanoi such as Ninh Binh, Phu Tho... are also suitable for short trips with sightseeing activities, local cultural experiences and weekend resorts.
In the Central region, the airport system and the distance between tourist destinations are relatively close, helping tourists easily combine many destinations in the same journey. Tourists can visit Hoi An ancient town, relax at Da Nang, Nha Trang beaches (Khanh Hoa), Quy Nhon (Gia Lai) or explore nature in Phong Nha - Ke Bang (Quang Tri). In addition, destinations such as Hue City, Dak Lak or Quang Ngai are also chosen by many tourists thanks to beautiful sea scenery and unique cultural space.
In the Southern region, sea resort tours and ecotourism are still popular choices during the holidays. From Ho Chi Minh City, tourists can move to Phu Quoc, Con Dao or nearby sea tourist destinations such as Vung Tau, Phan Thiet...
In addition, journeys to explore the Mekong Delta such as Can Tho, An Giang, Vinh Long, Dong Thap also attract tourists with experiences of floating markets, orchards and unique local culture.
