According to the latest weather information from the Northern Hydrometeorological Station, the weather in the North in recent days has recorded many strong thunderstorms accompanied by hail, directly affecting tourism and travel activities.
On March 29-30, many localities such as Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Hanoi, and Nghe An experienced strong thunderstorms and hail. Especially in Hanoi, in the early morning of March 30, heavy rain accompanied by hail occurred in some inner city areas such as Viet Hung, My Dinh, Tay Ho, and Long Bien.
The cause was identified as a compressed low pressure trough combined with wind convergence at an altitude of about 5,000m, creating conditions for the formation of strong convection clouds causing thunderstorms, hail and gusts of wind. This is a typical weather pattern in the transitional season, not an unusual phenomenon, although it appeared later than usual this year.
Previously, some provinces and cities recorded hailstorms around March 22-23 such as Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang...

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today's weather forecast shows that the Northeast and Northern Delta regions will continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in some places over 30mm. Localized heavy rain poses a risk of flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas.
Hanoi weather forecast for the day: cloudy, showers and thunderstorms in the morning, locally heavy rain; clouds decrease in the afternoon, sunshine returns. Temperature fluctuates around 23-25 degrees C, highest 32-34 degrees C.
In the current thunderstorms, there is a high possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. These phenomena often occur in a short time, with a narrow scope, but can cause significant damage if proactively prevented.
For tourists, thunderstorms and hail in this period may affect outdoor activities, especially in the northern mountainous region. It is necessary to regularly monitor weather forecasts, limit movement when there is a strong thunderstorm warning, and choose flexible itinerary to ensure safety.
