According to the latest storm news from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), on the afternoon of January 13, super typhoon Dudzai continued to operate strongly in the Indian Ocean.
The center of super typhoon Dudzai is located about 1,252 km south-southeast of Diego Garcia. In the past 6 hours, the super typhoon has moved in a South-Southeast direction at a speed of 4 km/h. The maximum wave height reached 8.2 m.
The strongest wind near the storm center reached 195 km/h, gusting up to 215-220 km/h.

It is forecasted that in the next 12 to 24 hours, super typhoon Dudzai will continue to decrease in speed significantly and tend to move southward. In the next 12 hours, a developed subtropical high pressure band will push super typhoon Dudzai to suddenly shift direction to the South - Southwest.
After that, it is forecast that super typhoon Dudzai will move mainly in a West direction in the next 3 days. During this time, super typhoon Dudzai will gradually weaken, but wind speeds will still reach over 150 km/h.
Because it is located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, the super typhoon has little impact on the mainland areas of countries in the region.
However, people and tourists who plan to go to the sea areas where the super typhoon passes through should pay attention to weather forecasts. Follow local instructions and avoid going out when the sea is rough to ensure safety throughout the journey.
