On the evening of February 6th, at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site, the Hanoi Department of Tourism coordinated with the City Union of Friendship Organizations and relevant departments, branches, and units to organize the opening ceremony of the Happy Tet 2026 program with the theme "Tet is happiness".
The event aims to celebrate the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, celebrating the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Party (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2026).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang, said that "Happy Tet 2026" is built as a journey to experience the traditional Tet of Hanoi and of all regions of the country.
The program recreates the atmosphere of family reunion, Tet customs, Tet markets, cuisine, folk art and familiar Spring memories that have been associated with many generations of Vietnamese people.
According to Ms. Dang Huong Giang, with the role of a thousand-year-old capital of culture, the heart of the whole country, Hanoi always strives to nurture, preserve and spread its identity and traditional values, creating a unique attraction for the Capital's destination.

With a scale of more than 7,000 m2, the Happy Tet 2026 space is elaborately designed and decorated, vividly recreating the traditional Tet atmosphere of Hanoi and regions, bringing a diverse series of experiences to people and tourists. The program includes many unique spaces, harmoniously connecting traditional cultural values and the modern breath.
Prominent is the "Spring Market" space, recreating the Tet shopping rhythm with peach blossoms, kumquats, apricot blossoms, Tet gifts, handicrafts and traditional craft villages associated with tourism.
The "Tet Flavor" space is inspired by the ancient house 87 Ma May, introducing cultural and culinary activities of old Hanoi Tet such as making banh chung, banh te, Tet feasts, asking for calligraphy at the beginning of spring, along with typical cuisine of the Northern, Central, and Southern regions. The "Spring Gathering" space promotes Hanoi's tourist destination, heritage, traditional festivals and experiences handicrafts such as Bat Trang pottery, Ha Thai lacquer, Phu Vinh rattan and bamboo, Thuy Ung horn comb, Xuan La to he.


Besides, there is a folk game area and community activities with tug-of-war, swinging, throwing con, human chess, figurine making, creating a joyful and spring-filled atmosphere. The Tet space in digital technology applies interactive 3D Mapping, leading viewers through a journey of Tet memories from tradition to modernity with the themes of old Hanoi Tet, festival Tet, suburban Tet and modern Tet.
The program also gathers nearly 20 booths of travel, accommodation and tourism service businesses, introducing hundreds of spring travel tours and vouchers at the beginning of the year with discounts of up to 30%.


Throughout the 5 days of the event, visitors can participate in a series of experiential activities with the themes "Touching Identity", "Touching Handicraft", "Touching Technology" and "Touching Connection", highlighted with "Happy Tet 2026 Passport".
In particular, on the morning of February 10, 2026 (December 23rd of the lunar calendar), the traditional Neu erecting ceremony will be recreated in the area in front of Doan Mon, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, contributing to spreading the value of Vietnamese cultural heritage in the heritage space of more than 1,000 years of history.
