2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, and at the same time marks the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2.
According to National Geographic, Vietnam has undergone many changes and developments since 1975. Many historical sites have become famous destinations, attracting the attention of international tourists. Recently, this famous magazine suggested 8 destinations in Vietnam for international tourists.
This year's National Day holiday on September 2 lasts 4 days (August 30 - September 2) an opportunity for domestic and foreign tourists to have more time to both participate in major celebration events and explore historical sites across the country.
Hanoi
National Geographic suggests that visitors to Hanoi go to the Vietnam Military History Museum. The museum moved to a new location at the end of 2024 and became a "hot spot" attracting a large number of visitors to visit and check-in.
A historic destination in Hanoi that foreign tourists must visit is Hoa Lo Prison (formerly known as Hanoi Hilton). The prison is a prominent detention area for American prisoners with two exhibition rooms of artifacts of John McCain and other American pilots.

Quang Tri
Along the length of Vietnam, down to the Central region, visitors to Quang Tri should not miss the Mining Bay Geodesy Area and the 17.
The terrain of Moc Bay was a shelter for 90 families during the war, with wells, kitchens, and a home that once had 17 babies. Meanwhile, latitude 17 (the two banks of Hien Luong - Ben Hai) is known as the most fearsome place to cut off the South - North in the world. Quang Ngai

HO CHI MINH CITY
In Ho Chi Minh City, international tourists who love history should go to the War Document Museum - which stores a lot of evidence about the My Lai massacre and the consequences of Agent Orange. The museum also displays a huge collection of wartime aircraft and weapons.
The Golden Lap Dynasty is a symbol of the end of the war in Vietnam, associated with the event on April 30, 1975 . The project is currently a tourist destination that attracts a lot of international tourists. National Geographic suggests that visitors should book a tour with an English tour guide to fully experience the space and stories here.

The final destination is the Cu Chi route with a network of underground tunnels hundreds of kilometers long, which used to be a shelter and a fighting area for the Cu Chi army and people about 30km from the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Here, visitors can experience going underground to explore the "eating in battle" system of the ancient Cu Chi people.
