Hang Te Cho Waterfall is located in Tram Tau Commune, Lao Cai Province, bordering Son La, in the Ta Xua National Special Forest. The unique name of the waterfall originates from the nearby Mong people. In Mong language, Hang Te Cho means De Cho stream.
As one of the four great deaths of the Northwest, Hang Te Cho Waterfall is famous for its dangerous path, surrounded by primeval forests, pristine, and quiet nature.

Pham Hoai Thu (21 years old, Hanoi) had memorable memories when conquering the road to the waterfall alone: "Hang Te Cho has long been very famous in the backpacking world. The Northwest mountains and forests are always a promised land of my dreams, this trip is like a relic of the places I wish to set foot in and conquer.
Hoai Thu said that the whole route of 412km, a total of 22 hours, is quite arduous and overwhelming for many backpackers: For many backpackers, traveling on a day with such mountain terrain is quite arduous and overwhelming. I have had many similar trips before, so I have enough spirit, health and experience to complete the trip safely.
However, the female backpacker admitted that the road to the waterfall was not an easy challenge because the pass was originally steep, muddy and mixed with many stones. She had to steer and stand up to get the car to climb steep slopes, there were many sections where the car slipped, if she did not brake carefully, the car would drift.
The female tourist fell because she had many car accidents, and there were sections where the car slipped and could not be driven. Luckily, she was helped by the local people.
"If the road is not muddy, it will be a rocky slope, if every meter of the road is just a mistake, it will easily lose momentum and plunge into the valley next to it," said Hoai Thu.

An unforgettable memory for Hoai Thu is when she was walking down the waterfall when she encountered heavy rain. Because she did not know the way, she went wrong into the dead end and was forced to cross the corn field.
At that time, around 12:30 p.m., I was trekking down to the waterfall when it rained. In the middle of the corn field, there are no big trees to shelter from, so I put my bags and electronic items in the back, and sat there to rest and wait for the rain to stop before continuing.
When I arrived at the foot of the waterfall, witnessed the water rolling down and white foam, even though it was still raining on my head, I felt like it was the most wonderful moment of the whole trip, said the female tourist.

Hoai Thu said that she was exhausted, tired many times and had thoughts of wanting to give up halfway. However, the diligence, resilience and courage of a person with a lot of travel experience urged the female tourist to continue. The achievement of witnessing Hang Te Cho waterfall with its majestic landscape like a "paradise" is completely deserved.
The waterfall is so big and majestic, like a giant stretch of water pouring down from the horizon, foam is blasting. When standing at close range, all the vents and drizzle issued from the waterfall around me. I have been to many waterfalls in the North, but Hang Te Cho truly deserves to be known as one of the four great cities in the Northwest, Thu said.
Because the trip was limited to one day, the female tourist's fuel and food costs were only about 300,000 VND. However, Hoai Thu suggests that tourists can stay for 2 days and 1 night to visit other famous places nearby such as Ta Xua, Tram Tau hot mineral spring, Cu Vai village, Mu Cang Chai... The cost will be about 1 - 1.5 million VND/person depending on their needs.

Hoai Thu affirmed that Hang Te Cho Waterfall is an ideal destination for those who are passionate about adventure travel and love wild nature. Tourists can choose to travel independently to save costs or take a tour.
"Currently, many locals provide waterfall discovery and full 2-day, 1-night rest services. If you have more time, you can arrange a schedule to explore the entire Northwest region, Thu said.
In the future, the female tourist will want to return to Hang Te Cho waterfall once again. In addition, with a passion for tourism, Hoai Thu will continue to explore many new waterfalls, even attractive places that are not on the map of Vietnam.
