The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just agreed on the policy of piloting the provision of electric bicycle services to serve visitors at the Village of Culture and Tourism of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups.

Mr. Do Ba Quan - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tri Nam Digital Transport Joint Stock Company, the operator of the TNGo public bicycle network, said: the unit has brought about 60 electric bicycles to the Village of Culture - Tourism of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups for pilot service to tourists.

After the pilot period, if the model is suitable, the unit will propose to add vehicles to better meet the sightseeing needs.

Hanoi officially piloted the public bicycle service from August 24, 2023. In the first phase, the model was deployed with 79 stations and 1,000 vehicles, including mechanical bicycles and electric bicycles, in inner city areas.

To date, the public bicycle network in the city has 146 stations with about 1,800 vehicles.

According to the operating unit, in the coming time, the public bicycle service will continue to be piloted, evaluated for effectiveness and is expected to expand to more service areas.

The introduction of electric bicycles into service at the Village of Culture - Tourism of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups is expected to create more convenient means of transportation for tourists, and at the same time contribute to evaluating the effectiveness of the model in tourist and sightseeing areas.

This is also a test step to improve infrastructure, operating methods, and gradually develop public bicycles into a green transportation option, in line with Hanoi's sustainable transportation development orientation.
