16,000km cycling journey across Europe - Asia of a French-Vietnamese couple

Before becoming the author of "From Your Home to My Home", Thibault Clemenceau and his wife Khanh Nguyen once attracted attention with their cycling journey across Europe and Asia.

Thibault was born in France, loves sports and has experience cycling more than 4,000km around Europe with his younger brother.

Meanwhile, Khanh Nguyen grew up in Vietnam and almost never cycled long distances before meeting her husband.

The two met in 2015 at a small cafe in Ho Chi Minh City.

After three years of dating, they got married and decided to make a special "honeymoon" trip: cycling from France to Vietnam, which is also "from your house to my house".

The official journey began on April 16, 2019 with the goal of passing over 16,000km, crossing many European and Asian countries.

Not only a personal adventure, the couple also carried out a charity activity called "Nón Lá Project", calling for donations of 1 USD for each kilometer cycling to support a non-profit organization helping disadvantaged children in Vietnam.

In the early days in France, Thibault and Khanh Nguyen had to get used to cycling long distances in constantly changing weather conditions.

They passed through fields, mountains, winding mountain passes and camped many times in nature.

When they arrived in Switzerland, Khanh Nguyen saw snow for the first time. The couple also experienced many special memories such as sleeping at homes of cycling enthusiasts or being checked by a former Tour de France racer for free.

Throughout the journey, two bicycles nicknamed "Monster" and "Tank" became familiar companions.

According to Thibault's sharing, the most precious thing is not only the kilometers they have traveled but also the people they meet on the road.

From families opening doors for strangers to stay, friends who are passionate about cycling to local communities in Slovakia, Serbia or Bulgaria, each meeting leaves a special mark on the young couple.

They once crossed passes over 1,400m high, camped in the cold night, passed through snow-covered forests and faced heavy rain and prolonged low temperatures many times.

After more than 5,000km, Thibault and Khanh Nguyen continued to cross the Black Sea to go to Georgia, marking a more challenging stage of the cross-continental journey.

Many images during the trip such as the Vietnamese conical hat, simple meals by the roadside, or moments of setting up tents in the mountains and forests were later included in the book "From your house to my house".

Not only telling about experiential tourism, the journey of the French-Vietnamese couple also inspires about dedication, adaptability and the spirit of connection between people in many different cultures.
