The Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, but around the origin of the statue of Ba Chua Xu, there are many legends with unique colors.
According to documents of the Lang Management Board, the Sam Mountain Temple, about 200 years ago, the statue of the Lady of the Confederation of Labor was built on Sam Mountain. One day, a group of people who specialized in harassing the border area went up the mountain to see a statue and had bad intentions. They gathered to carry the statue down the mountain, but after going a short distance, they saw the statue of the Lady that was too heavy to lift. Angry, one of the group's members broke the statue's left arm. This name was immediately punished by her.
Since then, she often comes back to claim to be the Fourth Holy Mother (The Fourth Lady) to teach people how to build a temple so that she can bless them with favorable weather, a bumper crop, to avoid theft and disease. Seeing the impatience, the people decided to carry the statue of the Lady back to worship.
But strangely, dozens of young men in a majestic position could not move the statue of the Lady. At that time, the "river" Mrs. said she needed 9 young girls from the same age to carry her. Indeed, the statue of Ba was then carried away easily. When arriving at the current location of the Ba Temple, the statue suddenly became heavy and could not be lifted any more. The villagers thought that she wanted to dwell here so she built a temple to worship her. That day, it was the 25th of the 4th lunar month and the villagers took this day as the "Ba Vinh Trieu" festival.
After that, there are more and more mysterious legends about the sacredness of the land god, such as a mysterious and sacredness that is difficult to explain... Notably, the story of the Lady's instinct in handling the crime of theft ward.
The story goes that once a thief broke into the house to steal gold worn by the grandmother. After stealing, he tried to find a way to escape and get lost. But the more he tried to escape, the more he was tormented because he struggled in the temple area, until he was discovered and arrested.
After that, the "copper rider" returned and recounted: When she discovered the break-in, she intended to break his neck to punish him, but searching for him all the time, she could not see his hands and necks, only the two clubs brought straight to the sky... Then she asked, only to know that the thief had "planted a banana tree", pointed the gate of both legs to the sky to avoid breaking her neck.
