Total tourism revenue is estimated to reach nearly 6,500 billion VND (up 40.5% over the same period). Phu Quoc special zone alone is estimated to welcome more than 1 million visitors (up 31.5% over the same period), of which international visitors are estimated to welcome more than 176,000 visitors (up 82.2% over the same period). Total tourism revenue is estimated to reach more than 4,900 billion VND (up 50.7% over the same period).
In the first 7 months of the year, Phu Quoc International Airport served more than 4.48 million passengers, an increase of more than 1.23 million arrivals, equivalent to nearly 38% compared to the same period in 2025. During this time, the total number of take-offs and landings reached 27,919 flights, an increase of more than 8,500 flights, equivalent to nearly 44%. The above results mark a historic high output of the Airport.
Leaders of the Department of Tourism said that currently, An Giang province is entering the summer tourist season, which is also the peak rainy season in the province, the appearance of a low pressure area causing bad weather has partly affected tourism activities in localities, especially in island areas. Although affected by rainfall and bad weather, in general, the province's tourism activities in the month still developed quite well, with the number of visitors and tourism revenue increasing compared to the same period.
At this time, although it is the rainy season, the number of visitors to Phu Quoc is still quite large. Instead of choosing weather-dependent locations, outdoor activities are temporarily suspended when it rains or the weather is bad, tourists can choose indoor attractions, explore and experience in both the southern and northern island areas.
Mr. Tu Thai Huy, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said that his family had planned to travel to Phu Quoc in the summer beforehand and also researched and chosen destinations in case of rain.
Because children only have free time to travel during the summer vacation, my family still follows the previous plan. For children, we prioritize choosing places such as visiting the zoo, amusement parks, aquariums, watching water music shows, fireworks, night markets... These places are not worried about rain, but children can still go out to play," Mr. Huy shared.
Phu Quoc is famous for its blue sea and white sand, most tourists experience swimming and checking in in beautiful sunny weather. However, there are rainy days, the atmosphere and images of Pearl Island are also very different, creating a lingering feeling of a bit of wistfulness. Admiring Phu Quoc through the rain in high-angle views is also a very interesting experience," Ms. Thao Ngoc, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, confided.
The Provincial Tourism Association also said that tourism promotion and stimulus programs focus on unique tourism products such as sea and island tourism, ecotourism, cultural and culinary tourism... At the same time, the province will also continue to improve the quality of tourism service products, improve tourism infrastructure, and train high-quality human resources to meet the increasing needs of tourists. Local tourism businesses have also proactively improved service quality, ensuring to bring the best experiences to tourists.
In many localities, in the rainy season, the number of tourists usually decreases due to psychological fear of inconvenience and cannot go out when it rains. However, if the tourist destination has a variety of choices and new experiences to serve tourists according to each season, it will still retain tourists.
