Considered the largest natural waterfall in Southeast Asia, Ban Gioc waterfall is located on the Quay Son River, in Dam Thuy commune, Cao Bang province, right in the Vietnam - China border area. From afar, the waterfall appears like a soft white silk strip in the deep blue mountains and forests.

The waterfall has many large and small layers connected to each other, the water flow from above pours down white foam, creating a resonant sound in the mountains and forests. Surrounding the waterfall are fields, forests and overlapping limestone mountains typical of the Northeast region.
In the fall, the water at the waterfall turns turquoise, reflecting clouds and mountains, creating a scene that many tourists compare to watercolor paintings. This is also the most beautiful time to visit when the weather is cool and ripe rice covers the riverside fields.
Not only attractive by its majestic beauty, Ban Gioc waterfall also has its own peaceful beauty. Bamboo rafts slowly take visitors closer to the foot of the waterfall, where cool water vapor covers the entire space.
Many tourists said that the most impressive time of day is at dusk. Under the sunset, the entire waterfall area seems to be covered in a brilliant orange-yellow layer, standing out against the green mountain background and the sound of rushing water.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phuong Thao (32 years old, Nghe An), he was very surprised when he first saw Ban Gioc Waterfall with his own eyes. "The scenery here is overwhelmingly beautiful, looking like a painting in the mountains and forests," he shared.

In addition to admiring the beautiful scenery, visitors here can also explore Nguom Ngao Cave, Pac Bo or Truc Lam Ban Gioc Buddhist Temple located near the waterfall area.
In 2024, Ban Gioc Waterfall was voted in the top 21 most beautiful waterfalls in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine thanks to its natural beauty and special landscape in the border region.
