About 20km from the center of Dien Bien Phu, Pa Khoang Lake appears as a majestic natural picture with vast, calm water, surrounded by overlapping mountains. The lake belongs to Pa Khoang commune, Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province, at an altitude of nearly 900m above sea level, creating a cool climate all year round.

In Thai, Pa Khoang means "bamboo forest", reminiscent of the diverse and rich ecosystem around the lake area. The entire lake is located in Muong Phang special-use forest, where there is a rich flora and fauna, creating favorable conditions for ecotourism development.
