Pha Din during a Northwest tour impresses with its characteristic wild and majestic mountain scenery.

Rolling in the clouds of the Northwest sky, Pha Din Pass has a beauty that is both majestic and dangerous with winding curves embracing mountains and forests.

Not only is it a legendary road connecting Son La and Dien Bien, this place is also a destination that many travel enthusiasts desire to conquer once.

Pha Din Pass is about 32km long, located on National Highway 6 connecting Son La and Dien Bien provinces. This is one of the famous "four great passes" of the Northern mountains next to O Quy Ho Pass, Khau Pha Pass and Ma Pi Leng Pass.

The name Pha Din originates from Thai, meaning "where heaven and earth meet". Just hearing the name is enough to evoke the majestic feeling of the Northwest mountains and forests.

The highest point of the pass is located at an altitude of about 1,648m above sea level. From here, visitors can clearly feel the typical cold air of the highlands along with the feeling of standing in the middle of a cloud.

Pha Din Pass has long become a favorite conquering spot for backpackers and explorers.

The pass is famous for its rugged terrain with a vertical cliff on one side and a deep abyss on the other.

Consecutive hairpin turns, A-shaped and Z-shaped turns, and steep slopes make the mountain pass journey more attractive to backpackers. There are narrow roads just enough for a car to pass, forcing the driver to be truly focused.

Looking down from above, the pass road appears as a soft silk strip spanning the Northwest mountains and forests, winding in the overlapping green of the great forest.

What many people remember most when setting foot in Pha Din is the majestic natural scenery and the feeling of peace in the mountains and forests.

Halfway up the pass is often covered in fog, creating a magical scene like a fairyland. At the foot of the pass are small villages nestled in the green valley.

According to Mr. Thai Hoang (32 years old, Hanoi), the journey to reach the top of Pha Din Pass is not to prove how far they have gone, but to look back at themselves who have become stronger and more mature after each journey.

Sometimes happiness is simply being able to slow down and enjoy very simple things like that," Mr. Hoang said.

Looking down from Dien Bien, visitors can see the vast Muong Quai valley with houses faintly visible between mountains and hills. The closer you get to the top of the pass, the more majestic the scene becomes when only the deep blue sky blends with the rolling mountains.

Each season of the year, Pha Din has its own beauty. Summer here is cool with mist stretches slowly drifting through the mountains and forests. Meanwhile, winter brings a characteristic biting cold feeling of the Northwest highlands.

Not only is it a vital traffic route, Pha Din Pass is also a symbol of the pristine and majestic beauty of the Northwest. For many tourists, the journey to overcome dangerous curves to reach the top of the pass is also like a memorable experience of youth.

Amidst the floating sea of clouds and overlapping mountains and forests, Pha Din is still a stop that makes anyone who has ever passed by want to return many more times.
