The Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday and April 30 - May 1, 2026 recorded about 12 million visitors, an increase of 14.2% compared to the same period, creating a foundation for the simultaneous growth of localities. However, the revenue chart shows that not everywhere with a large number of visitors has high revenue, and this difference mainly comes from the structure of visitors, tourism products and market organization during the holiday.

Leading groups such as Ho Chi Minh City (VND 8,700 billion with 1.69 million visitors) or Da Nang (VND 5,727 billion with 1.46 million visitors) have in common a high proportion of international visitors and good spending exploitation capacity.

Da Nang alone welcomed more than 621,000 international visitors, accounting for about 43% of the total number of visitors, while Ho Chi Minh City had about 190,000 international visitors.

This is a group of customers with higher spending levels, using many accommodation, food and entertainment services, so it significantly increases revenue.

This is directly related to the aviation industry's strong increase in service capacity, with routes reaching a 80-100% occupancy rate and hundreds of thousands of additional seats during peak seasons, helping major cities attract international visitors more effectively.

Meanwhile, Ninh Binh is a typical case of "many visitors but relatively lower revenue": welcoming 2.37 million visitors - the highest in the country, but revenue reached 3,569.1 billion VND. The reason lies in the characteristics of natural tourism products, short-day visits, low costs, suitable for the "micro-holiday" trend.

Similarly, Lam Dong welcomed 970,000 visitors with revenue of 2,188 billion VND, or Lao Cai 800,000 visitors with 2,217 billion VND - both are natural destinations, resorts, where visitors mainly travel in small groups, short trips and spending is not too high.

Another important factor clarifying the gap is stimulus programs. Many localities and businesses have implemented incentives of up to 40%, launched travel combos and new products such as night tours, eco-tourism experiences, cultural tourism... This helps the number of visitors increase sharply in many destinations, but at the same time reduces average spending, especially in the domestic tourist group - which accounts for the majority of the total number of visitors.

In addition, the fact that two holidays take place adjacently (3 days of Giỗ Tổ and 4 days on April 30 - May 1) makes the flow of visitors not concentrated at one time but distributed into many phases.

Thanks to that, non-central localities such as Hai Phong (1.45 million visitors but revenue of 1,120 billion VND) or Hue (610,000 visitors, 1,350 billion VND) still recorded growth, thanks to taking advantage of dispersed customer flows and local specialty products.

In addition, significantly strengthened transport infrastructure also contributes to changing the revenue structure. More than 3,800 flights of Vietnam Airlines and thousands of additional flights of Vietjet, along with increased train and sea trips and expansion of road connectivity, help tourists easily access more destinations instead of just focusing on large cities.

This explains why many localities are growing in the number of visitors, but revenue is still differentiated according to the ability to retain and exploit spending.

Overall, revenue depends not only on the number of customers but also on "customer quality" and product organization.

Localities with advantages in international visitors and high-class services will lead in revenue, while natural and experiential destinations attract many visitors thanks to their suitability for short-day tourism trends and reasonable costs during holidays.
