The ancient beauty of Hung Hoc communal house over 180 years old in Quang Ninh

    Quang Ninh - Hung Hoc communal house built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, through many restorations, the communal house still retains the traditional village communal house sculpture architecture.

    Theo tư liệu Hán Nôm và các cụ cao niên trong làng kể lại, đình Hưng Học được xây dựng vào cuối thế kỷ XVIII. Thuở ban đầu đình được dựng ở gần chùa Hưng Học, cách vị trí đình hiện nay khoảng 500m, đến năm 1841 mới chuyển về xây dựng ở vị trí hiện nay.
    According to Han Nom documents and the elders in the village, Hung Hoc communal house (Phong Coc ward, Quang Ninh) was built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In the early days, the communal house was built near Hung Hoc Pagoda, about 500m from the current communal house location, and it was not moved to the current location until 1841. The communal house consists of three compartments, two porches, and four beams.

    Throughout its history, the process of preservation, restoration, and embellishment, Hung Hoc communal house still retains the traditional village communal house sculpture architecture.

    Information from the Department of Cultural Heritage, Hung Hoc communal house is a historical relic commemorating Duke Vu Hoang Dao, a person with meritorious services to the commune, a god who eliminated epidemics and helped the people. The communal house also worships the famous Huyen Quang ancestor, the third ancestor of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect. In particular, the custom of worshiping and bringing the god Pham Nhan to Hung Hoc communal house for worship on the occasion of the Great Blessing Festival is a unique cultural feature of the people of Hung Hoc village.

    Các vì kèo gồm hai cột cái, hai cột quân, theo kiểu “thượng thu, hạ thách”, trên có câu đầu, giá chiêng bụng lợn, kẻ chuyền với các bức cốn và câu đầu đón mái, họa tiết chạm khắc hoa văn vân mây tiêu biểu cho điêu khắc đình làng cuối thế kỷ XVIII, đầu thế kỷ XIX. Ảnh: Nguyễn Huệ
    The gates consist of two main pillars, two military pillars, in the style of "thượng thu, hạ thách", with the first sentence, "giá chiêng bụng lợn" (small gong, pig's belly), and the "đẻ chuyền" (passing line) with "bức cốn" and "câu đầu đón mái" (first sentence welcoming the roof), and decorative patterns carved with cloud patterns typical of village communal house sculpture in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

    Mr. Vu Van Tien - Head of the Hung Hoc communal house festival committee said that there are still many artifacts of cultural and historical value in the communal house.
    Với những giá trị đặc biệt nêu trên, đình Hưng Học đã được xếp hạng là Di tích lịch sử quốc gia vào năm 2021. Đình Hưng Học không chỉ là nơi sinh hoạt tín ngưỡng tâm linh linh thiêng mà còn là trung tâm văn hóa cộng đồng, gắn bó mật thiết với đời sống tinh thần và là biểu tượng cho ý chí chinh phục thiên nhiên, phát triển kinh tế - xã hội của người dân địa phương.     With the above special values, Hung Hoc communal house was ranked as a National Historical Relic in 2021. Hung Hoc communal house is not only a place for spiritual and sacred religious activities but also a community cultural center, closely associated with spiritual life and a symbol of the will to conquer nature and develop socio-economics of local people.
