On September 15, 2025, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam, along with the United Nations, the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva, held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (02.9.1945 - 23.9.2025) at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Attending the event "Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the National Day: Honoring history, affirming current stature and future aspirations" were about 300 international and Vietnamese guests, including many Ambassadors, Heads of Delegations, representatives of international organizations, international friends and the Vietnamese community in Switzerland, creating a solemn, warm and friendly atmosphere.

In his opening speech, Ambassador and Head of the Delegation Mai Phan Dung reviewed the proud 8-year historical journey of the Vietnamese people: from September 2, 1945 at the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh respectfully declared the independence and birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam - to three decades of fighting for independence and national reunification; four decades of innovation and integration; and remarkable progress on the path of development. Throughout that process, Vietnam has always promoted the value of peace, freedom, dignity and human rights, attached importance to international solidarity and integration, and determined to promote the cause of development.

The Ambassador emphasized that from a country devastated by war, Vietnam has risen to become the 33rd largest economy in the world, in the group of 30 largest exporting countries, top 15 global FDI destinations; has diplomatic relations with 194 countries, established 38 partnership frameworks at all levels, and increasingly affirmed its role as an active and responsible member of the international community, contributing to peace and development in the region and the world through many specific activities. The Ambassador also thanked overseas Vietnamese and international friends for their contributions to the cause of building and developing Vietnam.

The unique highlight of the Ceremony is the unique and rich cultural and artistic program. The opening performance with the songs "Continuing the Peace Story" and " Non River Festival" brought a solemn and bustling atmosphere of the great national festival, arousing national pride of Vietnamese people far from home.

In particular, the traditional Ao Dai performance by designer Xuan Hong on the background of folk music performed by artists from the Vietnam Cultural Center in France left a strong impression. The collection with the theme "Showing Vietnam's Pride" includes four parts: "Dragon - Phuong", "river - Mountain", "Sac Xuan" and "Hoa Sen", honoring the origin of the nation, natural beauty, vitality and the fighting spirit of the Vietnamese people. On the background of traditional melodies, the flowing ao dai has become a "sild river flowing through time", connecting heritage with modernity, national culture with international friends.

In addition, guests can experience 5 cultural and culinary spaces of Vietnam: from printing Dong Ho paintings, enjoying egg coffee, salt coffee, lotus tea, exploring traditional fine arts, admiring Ao Dai and Vietnamese silk, to immerse yourself in a buffet with special folk dishes. The performances of the monochord and T' run, K'long Put lute have created a diverse sound picture, bringing international friends closer to Vietnamese culture.
