On October 30, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province said that it had sent an official dispatch to the Ministry of Transport requesting approval to build a pilot project for flying taxis operating in Binh Dinh province.
Accordingly, Binh Dinh does not have suitable means of transport to explore all the natural beauty of the province, as well as shorten the travel time between tourist destinations. Flying taxi is a type of transport using small electric aircraft, taking off and landing vertically, carrying 4-5 people, considered an ideal means of transport to serve tourism.
This is a green, novel, unique, modern, and innovative mode of transportation that makes travel easy, saves time, serves visitors and tourists well, has competitive prices, and does not emit harmful substances compared to conventional road and rail vehicles.
Flying taxi is a form of transportation with a lot of potential, suitable for the tourism development needs of the province, contributing to building Binh Dinh into a leading attractive destination in the region and to realize the goal of comprehensive, fast and sustainable tourism development in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister.
Up to now, flying taxis are a completely new form of transportation and have been researched and tested by a number of countries around the world such as China, the US, Germany, the UK, Singapore, South Korea... However, this type does not exist in Vietnam.
The expected benefits from this type of transport are huge, but it is necessary to have a testing plan, a pilot implementation roadmap, and build a solid legal corridor before putting it into operation.
Therefore, Binh Dinh province respectfully requests the Ministry of Transport to review the report and recommend the Prime Minister to approve the province's plan to develop a pilot project for flying taxis to operate in the province.
According to the Binh Dinh Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, tourism development is one of the development pillars of Binh Dinh, aiming to build Binh Dinh into a leading attractive destination in the region with its own characteristics: Sea tourism, unique cultural tourism, scientific discovery tourism, tourism associated with traditional martial arts...
Focus on developing and promoting tourism brands, focusing on "Quy Nhon - Asia's leading destination", gradually forming and developing new tourism routes in the province.
With rich sea and island tourism resources, especially 134km of coastline, Binh Dinh is oriented to develop as one of the important sea tourism centers of the country.
Binh Dinh has many famous beaches such as: Quy Nhon, Hai Giang, Trung Luong, Cat Hai...; nearshore islands: Nhon Chau, Hon Kho, Yen Island...; coastal bays and lagoons (Quy Nhon Bay, Thi Nai Lagoon, Tra O Lagoon,...) and more than 30 large and small islands, valuable for tourism exploitation.
