Official Dispatch No. 3383/BNV-CVL was sent to ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government-attached agencies and People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, some information has emerged recently that workers may have extended leave for many days by swapping working days with weekly holidays during this holiday.
However, the Ministry of Home Affairs affirmed that the 2026 holiday schedule is implemented in accordance with the provisions of the 2019 Labor Code.
Currently, there is no policy to adjust the holiday schedule, and the Ministry of Home Affairs also does not propose a plan to swap working days to extend the holiday. Therefore, there is no arrangement for 9 consecutive days off during this occasion.

The Ministry of Home Affairs requests ministries, branches and localities to implement the holiday schedule in accordance with current regulations, and at the same time coordinate unified implementation.
This year's Hung Kings Commemoration holiday falls on Sunday (April 26th of the solar calendar), so workers get compensatory leave on Monday (April 27th). Thus, the total holiday period lasts 3 consecutive days, from April 25th to the end of April 27th.
For the April 30 - May 1 holiday schedule, if applying a fixed Saturday and Sunday holiday regime, employees can take 4 consecutive days off, from April 30 to May 3, including 2 holidays and 2 weekends.
Previously, at the press conference on April 3rd on the Action Month for Occupational Safety and Health in 2026, Mr. Vu Trong Binh - Director of the Department of Employment (Ministry of Home Affairs) said that the 2026 holiday schedule has been approved by the Government and announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs from October 2025. The development of the holiday schedule has been consulted with ministries, sectors and trade union organizations.
He emphasized that the Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs have no changes related to the issued holiday schedule.
Meanwhile, on April 8, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized a survey of workers' opinions on the plan for arranging holiday schedules.
By the morning of April 9, more than 70,000 opinions were recorded, of which about 62% expressed a desire to swap holidays to extend holidays.
However, the Ministry of Home Affairs has officially affirmed that it does not apply the swap plan and maintains the same holiday schedule as current regulations.
