On August 27, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City held the opening ceremony of the Photo Exhibition "80 years - Can Tho is proud to grow far" to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, and opened the thematic exhibition "Flowers of the Earth" through the Southern Ceramic Collection at Can Tho City Museum.
The photo exhibition introduces 80 general photos of the struggle for national independence, the success of the August Revolution and the event of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, opening a new era of national independence associated with socialism.
At the same time, the exhibition reflects the outstanding achievements in the construction and development of Can Tho City, Soc Trang Province, Hau Giang before implementing the arrangement of administrative units and operating two-level governments. The activity will take place until September 30, 2025.
Also on this occasion, the topic "Flowers of the Land" introduced more than 200 documentary photos and artifacts of Southern pottery, including famous pottery lines such as Cay Mai (Saigon), Bien Hoa (Dong Nai), Lai Thieu (Binh Duong). The rich artifacts from worship statues, household pottery to decorative pottery, express the aesthetic and cultural values typical of the Southern region. Display to serve visitors until December 1, 2025.
In particular, the museum grounds also have a space to display Southern ceramics of Can Tho collectors with more than 80 artifacts, taking place from August 27 to 31, 2025.
On this occasion, artisans from the Vinh Long Brick and Ceramic Arts Association will directly demonstrate ceramic making techniques, creating opportunities for visitors to experience and learn about traditional crafts.
