After more than 10 times of organization, the Ban Flower Festival has become a product bearing the typical tourism brand of Dien Bien province in March every year.
According to leaders of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, the highlight of the Ban Flower Festival 2026 is the opening art program taking place on the evening of March 21 at the Provincial Stadium.
The program is expected to be broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV) and will be elaborately staged, harmoniously combining traditional art and the application of modern digital technology.

On the evening of March 22, visitors will immerse themselves in the exciting atmosphere of the Street Carnival, including model car parades, street art performances on the main roads of Dien Bien ward. In particular, the program will be combined with a high-altitude fireworks display.
The reality show "U Va Legend" will take place from March 20-26 in U Va village, Thanh Yen commune. The show will introduce legends, history and unique folk dances of the Thai ethnic group.
Besides art, sports activities are also organized on a large scale with the Road Cycling Race and the "Returning to Dien Bien Phu expanded in 2026" cross-country race.

In particular, visitors will witness contests imbued with heroic memories of the Dien Bien Phu campaign such as: Bicycle pushing contest, ammunition loading (March 21-22 in the Muong Thanh bridge area); Artillery pulling contest (March 20 in the A1 Hill area).
In addition, there are folk games imbued with the highland identity such as corn grinding and banh giay pounding taking place at Muong Thanh pedestrian street.
Within the framework of the festival, visitors also have the opportunity to experience diverse culinary culture through the Cultural Experience Space at Muong Thanh pedestrian street with sub-areas: "Where hands tell stories" (crafts), "Dien Bien flavors" (food) and "Fair market - OCOP Village".

In addition, Dien Bien province also organizes other attractive practical experience activities such as: Experiencing cooking "Hoang Cam Kitchen", soldier meals at relic sites; Festival to Hoa Ban region - Land of white Thai stilt houses in Muong Lay ward; Program to visit, admire Ban flowers and cultural exchange at ancient Ban forests, tourist villages...
According to Mr. Tran Hai Ha - Acting Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province, the Ban Flower Festival was first organized by Dien Bien province in 2014 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. Usually, from then on, the annual Festival will start from March 13, right on the opening day of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
However, in 2026, the Ban Flower Festival will be held about a week later to focus on the important event of the country: Election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
