In the project to develop medical tourism recently released by the Ministry of Health, it is recommended to pilot the model of "Hospital - Hotel - Resort" in 5 localities with strong tourism strengths: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Ninh and Khanh Hoa.
This plan is a strategic step to build high-quality healthcare service packages, not only to attract international visitors but also aim to retain about 40,000 Vietnamese people who are studying abroad for treatment each year.
The pilot roadmap extends from 2025 to 2027, focusing on developing the first 10-15 health - tourism combined service packages, before expanding nationwide in the period of 2027-2030.
These service packages include high-tech medical examination and treatment (oesthusiasm, cardiovascular disease, orthopedics, etc.); Traditional medicine service package combined with resorts; Comprehensive health care (examination, rehabilitation, etc.).
In fact, Da Nang possesses many advantages to develop the medical tourism sector in depth, such as: favorable geographical location, temperate climate, fresh environment, synchronous transportation and tourism infrastructure, along with a team of doctors and nurses increasingly improved in professional qualifications.
Moreover, the cost of medical services in Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular competes with many countries in the region and the world, while the quality of services is increasingly improved.
This is also a strategic step that Da Nang has identified and widely implemented in the coming time. And in this race, technology - digital transformation is not only a supporting tool but has become a key factor, the "key" to determining competitiveness and success.

Grassroots health care units in Da Nang city are also promoting digital transformation applications such as cashlessness, electronic medical records... towards best service for patients. Up to now, many units are applying cashless payments such as Da Nang Hospital, Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, Dentistry - Maxillofacial Hospital, Hospital 199, Son Tra Regional Medical Center, Ngu Hanh Son...
With the development of artificial intelligence (AI), electronic medical records... tourists can easily search for information about medical services, hospitals, and doctors in Da Nang through multilingual websites and mobile applications. Support more accurate disease diagnosis; remote post-operative consultation, health monitoring via wearable devices and mobile applications help maintain connection between doctors and patients...
In parallel, with the online platform - building specialized portals and mobile applications for Da Nang medical tourism, providing detailed information about hospitals, clinics, service packages, prices, etc. Or, online promotional campaigns to potential markets will enhance the recognition of Da Nang medical brands, make the process transparent through digital platforms to help build trust with international tourists, helping to optimize the quality of medical services.

The synchronization of technology and digital transformation in healthcare will also help managers better understand market demand and development trends to come up with appropriate strategies. Optimizing administrative, financial and human resource management processes. Ensure adequate timely supply of medicine and medical supplies.
According to BSCKII Vo Thi Hong Huong - Deputy Director of Hospital 199, said: "The "Smart City" project of the People's Committee of Da Nang City by 2025, half of hospitals in the city will successfully convert to digital, deploy electronic medical records without using paper medical records, and pay electronic hospital fees without cash. We are determined to work with the spirit of not being afraid to innovate, breaking traditional limits to build smart, modern medical facilities, meeting all the increasingly high requirements and needs of the people".
Technology and digital transformation are the core driving force to help Da Nang build a smart, effective and attractive medical tourism ecosystem, thereby attracting more and more tourists to experience high-quality medical services combined with resort tourism.
