This year, workers across the country will have 9 days off for Tet. This is 2 days longer than usual because the 5-day Tet holiday is followed by a 4-day weekend. People will have more time to return home to visit their families or take short to long trips domestically and internationally.
Before the 9-day Tet holiday, travel businesses all said that this is a good opportunity to promote the development of Vietnam's tourism industry.
Mr. Pham Van Bay - Deputy Director of Vietravel Hanoi Branch, commented: "The 2025 Tet holiday is expected to last 9 days, which is a favorable condition for tourists to have time to travel to many domestic and foreign destinations and is also an opportunity for travel agencies, transportation, accommodation... to start a bustling business year".
Sharing the same view, Mr. Bui Thanh Tu - Marketing Director of Best Price compared the company's Sales Department data, saying that the long holiday has a positive impact on the tourism industry.
"The trend of traveling abroad is increasing. The extended vacation time allows many families and groups of friends to plan exciting trips and explore new destinations," said Mr. Tu.
Mr. Tu added that preparations for welcoming guests for the Tet holiday season have been underway as soon as the official announcement of the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule was made. The company has designed many tourism products to suit the needs of customers. In particular, unlike last year, this year the company will promote long-term tours to bring richer and more complete experiences to visitors.
Meanwhile, Vietravel has quickly deployed and worked with travel partners and service providers since September to bring Tet departure products to customers as soon as possible.
Mr. Pham Van Bay said: "The long Tet holiday this year is both an opportunity and a challenge for tourism businesses like us. Ensuring tour quality, diversifying products so that tourists have more choices and tour prices do not increase too much compared to normal tour prices are our top priorities."
Considering the tendency of tourists to travel abroad during Tet, according to Mr. Bay, the business has proactively prepared by booking services in advance at popular destinations such as Thailand, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan (China) ... and further markets such as Dubai, Egypt, Europe, Australia, America, South Africa, Turkey ... so that tourists can experience quality services at good prices during the tour.
Mr. Bay added that up to now, the company has had many customers inquiring and booking early tours to Europe, Australia, and the US to take the initiative in visa procedures, group departure schedules, and enjoy early registration incentives.
Destinations such as Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan (China) are also of great interest to tourists. In addition, many overseas Vietnamese have also planned their trips to domestic destinations early.
At this time, BestPrice Travel recorded that there were customers booking tours for the Tet holiday, but not many. Mr. Tu said: "According to our observations, the number of customers booking tours will fall in December or January of the lunar calendar, and during this period, customers are mainly just researching."
To attract tourists who want to travel during this year's Lunar New Year, travel companies have launched many special incentive programs and policies such as: giving away high-end suitcases, early booking incentives, and launching promotions during live sessions...
With these preparation efforts, businesses hope to bring memorable travel experiences to visitors, while helping Vietnam's tourism industry develop further after recovering from the pandemic.
