According to Travel + Leisure, Con Dao brings a feeling of isolation from modern life with deserted beaches, clear blue water and majestic granite cliffs.
This magazine even compares the beauty of this place to the famous Amalfi Coast of Italy, but there is no crowded scene often seen at famous tourist destinations.
Con Dao is an archipelago off the coast of Ho Chi Minh City, about 76 km2 wide and consisting of 16 large and small islands. Visitors can come here by air or high-speed train from the mainland.

The most attractive point of Con Dao lies in the ecosystem that is still quite intact. Visitors can swim, dive to see coral reefs, roam, cycle to explore the island or trek in Con Dao National Park. Many destinations such as Bay Canh lighthouse, Dam Tre or surrounding small islands are favorite choices of nature enthusiasts.
One of the most unique experiences in Con Dao is observing sea turtles go to the beach to lay eggs and participating in the activity of releasing baby turtles back to the ocean. The breeding season of sea turtles usually lasts from about July to September every year, attracting a large number of tourists who love ecotourism.
Besides nature, Con Dao also possesses many historical values. Con Dao prison system, Hang Duong Cemetery and revolutionary relics are must-visit destinations for tourists who want to learn about Vietnamese history.
According to the People's Committee of Con Dao Special Economic Zone, in the first 6 months of 2026, the locality welcomed more than 410,000 visitors, an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period. Of which, international visitors reached nearly 24,000, an increase of 62%; tourism revenue is estimated at more than 2,000 billion VND. These figures show the increasing attraction of this island destination on the international tourism map.
In addition to Con Dao (Vietnam), the top 30 most mysterious islands in the world according to Travel + Leisure also include famous names such as: Gili Trawangan (Indonesia), Pico (Portugal), Sandön (Sweden), Scrub Island (British Virgin Islands), Skopelos (Greece), Caye Caulker (Belize), Flatey (Iceland), Gozo (Malta) and Swaraj Dweep (India)...
