The Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City said that the topic "Researching the value of Hai Van Pass road, Hai Van Quan relic and Nam O village to put into service of tourism development of the city" is chaired by the University of Education, chaired by Dr. Nguyen Duy Phuong.
The research topic aims to comprehensively assess the historical, cultural, landscape and tourism potential values of Hai Van Pass, Hai Van Quan, Hai Van railway and Nam O village; and at the same time propose effective exploitation solutions to form the city's northern tourism axis.
According to the research content, the implementing group will deploy 20 topics, focusing on inventorying tourism resources, assessing the current status of infrastructure, human resources, tourism business activities, tourist satisfaction level and the ability to link and develop unique tourism products. One of the important goals is to build experiential products associated with Hai Van Pass, Hai Van Quan, the pass-crossing railway line and Nam O traditional craft village.
Hai Van Quan is considered a prominent highlight of the area. After the restoration process, the relic officially opened to visitors from August 2024. This is a project of special historical and cultural value, and also a famous scenic spot contributing to promoting tourism development of both Da Nang and Hue. Hai Van Quan is also known as "The most majestic view in the world", becoming an attractive stop on the Hai Van Pass road.
In addition, Nam O village at the foot of Hai Van Pass possesses many unique cultural values. Nam O fish sauce village has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage since 2019. This is not only a place to preserve hundreds of years of traditional crafts but also a potential community cultural experience destination for tourists.
The research results are expected to create a scientific basis for heritage preservation, development of new tourism products and strengthening links between Da Nang and the surrounding area, contributing to making the Northern tourism axis a new driving force for the city's tourism industry.
