This is a prominent economic diplomacy event, taking place in the context that the two countries are focusing on implementing new development goals. At the same time, it opens up a potential cooperation space for localities throughout the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC).
The event will take place on April 3, 2026, co-organized by the Da Nang City People's Committee, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse and the Champasak provincial government, Laos.
The forum has important economic diplomacy significance. The goal is to concretize Vietnam-Laos cooperation commitments, while creating new momentum for regional linkages on the entire EWEC route. This is a strategic corridor connecting localities of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand.
Nearly 400 delegates are expected to attend. The composition includes representatives of ministries and branches of the two countries, 12 localities of Vietnam, 5 provinces of South - Central Laos (Champasak, Sekong, Salavan, Attapeu, Savannakhet) and Ubon Ratchathani province, Thailand. The participation of businesses and diplomatic missions contributes to promoting substantive cooperation.
The forum focused on two main discussion sessions. The content revolved around expanding the South - Central Laos market and strengthening cross-border cooperation. The parties will exchange policies, remove obstacles, and propose solutions in the fields of investment, trade, tourism and logistics.
An important highlight is the plan to sign more than 20 cooperation documents between Da Nang, Vietnamese localities and Lao partners. Cooperation orientation agreements for the period 2026 - 2030, focusing on infrastructure connectivity, supply chain development and investment capital flow promotion.
The forum is not only a place to connect government and businesses. The event also opens up opportunities to form specific projects, creating a foundation for sustainable economic development on the corridor route. Thereby, contributing to strengthening the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos with practical cooperation results.
