On the morning of June 21, in Buon Ma Thuot ward, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province coordinated with 2/9 Dak Lak Import-Export Co., Ltd. (Simexco Daklak) and VTV8 (Vietnam Television Station) to organize the Buon Ma Thuot Robusta Half Marathon VTV8 2026 with the message "Running in the coffee capital".
The race attracted a positive response from the sports-loving community with about 5,000 athletes participating in the 5km, 10km and 21km distances.
Notably, out of the total number of athletes participating, about 36% came from provinces and cities outside Dak Lak, equivalent to nearly 1,800 people.

It is estimated that the event may contribute to attracting an additional 3,600-5,400 out-of-province visitors to Dak Lak during the weekend of the race, creating a positive effect on accommodation, cuisine, transportation, tourism and local services.
Not only is it a community sports activity, the event is also expected to become a typical tourism communication product of the locality, contributing to promoting the image of Buon Ma Thuot - Vietnam's coffee capital; spreading the spirit of healthy and dynamic living, and at the same time introducing to tourists the cultural beauty, people and unique coffee space of Dak Lak.

Mr. Thai Anh Tuan - General Director of Simexco Daklak, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of Buon Ma Thuot Robusta Half Marathon VTV8 2026 said that Buon Ma Thuot has long been known as a land of coffee, vast forests, rich Central Highlands culture and friendly and hospitable people.
According to Mr. Tuan, Buon Ma Thuot is entering a new journey, not only being the Coffee Capital of Vietnam but also aiming to become the "World's Best Coffee Capital".
This is not just a slogan but a long-term action program of Dak Lak province in the 2026-2035 period, starting from building a platform, positioning destinations, developing brands, forming coffee streets, coffee tourism routes, digital coffee maps, coffee night economy, "Buon Ma Thuot authentic coffee" certification and training human resources to serve professional coffee tourism.
