The People's Committee of Dien Bien province has just issued a comprehensive plan to stimulate tourism demand for the period 2025-2026 with the goal of making the tourism industry an economic growth driver, enhancing the image of Dien Bien on the domestic and international tourism map.
Accordingly, the province set a target of welcoming 1.45 million visitors (including 14,000 international visitors) in 2025, with an average number of days of stay of 3 days, and total revenue from tourism activities estimated at VND 2,400 billion.
In 2026, welcoming over 1.6 million visitors (15,000 international visitors), staying for an average of 3 days, tourism revenue is estimated at VND 2,880 billion.
To realize the above goals, the province will deploy a series of contents and solutions. Specifically, tourist areas, attractions, historical sites, and scenic spots in the area will implement a program to exempt and reduce entrance fees for tourists.
Encourage businesses and tourism service businesses to have special incentive policies (forged discounts from 10-30% depending on each service item and applicable conditions) for tourists.
In addition, the province also proactively hosts cultural and sports events, regional, national and international game shows with increasing numbers each year such as: marathon races, 2-day, 1-night reality game shows, HaНа Family show...
The province also promotes communication by organizing the Phototour program. Accordingly, reporters, press reporters; photographers; content creators ( Facebook, Tiktok, YouTube...) are invited to conduct surveys and experiences to promote products, services, and tourist destinations in the province.
According to the Dien Bien Provincial Statistics Office, in the first 7 months of 2025, the number of tourists reached more than 870,000, down 38.3% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourism activities reached nearly VND 1,579 billion, down 38.27% over the same period last year.
