Muong Lay town currently has 1,192 traditional stilt houses out of a total of 3,198 houses in the town, with a floor density of about 10.58 houses/km2. This is a density of stilt houses that is superior to that of similar localities where the Thai ethnic group in the White Thai ethnic group is living.
For example, Quynh Nhai district, Son La province has a density of 1.24 houses/km2; Moc Chau town, Son La province has 1.6 houses/km2; Nam Nun district, Lai Chau province has 1.44 houses/km2; Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province has 0.27 houses/km2.
In order to honor the value of cultural heritage and promote the local image, the People's Committee of Muong Lay town has developed a nomination dossier to set a Vietnamese record "City with the highest density of traditional stilt houses of the Thai-white ethnic group in Vietnam".

Accordingly, a survey, statistics, and data collection related to the traditional stilt house system of the Thai ethnic group, the White Thai ethnic group, and the process of building a record record were conducted in accordance with the instructions, criteria, and procedures of the Vietnam Record Organization.
Speaking at the record announcement ceremony, Mr. Pham Duc Toan - Permanent Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee said that the establishment of the Vietnam Record is an event of special significance, not only for Muong Lay Town, but also a common joy of the people of Dien Bien province in their efforts to preserve and promote the value of the cultural heritage of ethnic groups.
This is also an opportunity to promote and introduce the image of Muong Lay Town as a unique cultural and tourism destination, aiming to attract tourists from inside and outside the province, contributing to promoting sustainable development of the tourism industry, in parallel with preserving and honoring national identity - Mr. Pham Duc Toan emphasized.
