
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone with an axis through the North combined with the strengthening of continental high pressure, the mountainous and midland areas of the North will have moderate rain, heavy rain, in some places very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 40-80mm, locally over 150mm; Lao Cai and Yen Bai will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 50-120mm, locally over 250mm.
The Northern Delta, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An regions have heavy to very heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms with common rainfall of 50-120mm, locally over 300mm.
The area from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien Hue will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 15-30mm, locally over 70mm. In the late afternoon and evening of September 10, the area from Da Nang to Khanh Hoa, the Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 10-30mm, locally over 60mm. There is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.
The meteorological agency warned of exceptionally large floods on the Thao River, emergency floods on the Luc Nam and Thuong Rivers; floods on the Cau River, Lo River and other rivers in the Northern region.
From now, September 10-11, the flood on Hoang Long River continues to fall below level 1; another flood appears on other rivers in the Northern region. During this flood, the flood peak on small rivers in the northern mountainous provinces, especially in Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Bac Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Son La provinces, will rise to level 2-3, with some rivers above level 3.
There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers in the provinces of Lang Son, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, and Hoa Binh; flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in mountainous areas of the North.
