In the first 6 months of 2026, the number of tourists to Da Nang reached 9.8 million, boosting accommodation and food revenue to increase sharply, but the travel segment grew slowly due to the trend of self-sufficient travel.
According to the Da Nang City Statistics Office, the added value (VA) of the service sector in the past 6 months is estimated to increase by 9.31%, contributing 4.95 percentage points to the overall GRDP growth rate (9.52%) and accounting for 54.93% of the city's economic structure.
However, revenue from travel services and tourism support activities is estimated at only 2,350 billion VND, a slower growth rate of 10.4% compared to the same period last year.
According to the Statistics Office, this disparity shows a shift from the trend of tourists increasingly prioritizing self-sufficient tourism, self-setting personal itinerary instead of booking tours through travel agencies.
Revenue from accommodation and catering services reached 32,400 billion VND, an increase of 21.6% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 22.4% of total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue of the whole city. In which, revenue from accommodation services reached 9,883 billion VND (up 19.4%) and revenue from catering reached 22,517 billion VND (up 22.5%).
To support the self-sufficient trend and attract tourists to actively set up their journeys, the city has made good use of the summer tourist season by synchronously implementing tourism stimulus programs "Da Nang - Touching the Original" and organizing a series of large-scale events such as: Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2026), VNG IRONMAN Vietnam sports competition (Full IRONMAN 140.6), Da Nang International Marathon and Danang Food Tour series.
In addition, the expansion of direct international routes connecting Da Nang with destinations such as Manila (Philippines), Bali (Indonesia) and Moscow (Russia) has created favorable conditions for international visitors to book air tickets and accommodation online without going through intermediary travel agencies.
