According to the report of the Da Nang Tourism Department, by October 15, 2024, the number of tourists continued to grow strongly. In the past 9 months, the total number of visitors staying in this city is estimated at 8.67 million, an increase of 33% over the same period in 2023, equal to 163% of the same period in 2019. Of which, international visitors were more than 3.17 million, an increase of 30%, equal to 134% over the same period in 2019.
The structure of international visitors has shifted from some traditional markets to new markets. While the number of traditional visitors such as Korea, China, Thailand, Japan has decreased, some new markets have increased such as: Taiwan (China), India, Australia, Russia...
Da Nang also set a target of reaching more than 10.5 million overnight guests in 2025, an increase of 6% compared to 2024, of which international visitors are estimated to reach 4.3 million, an increase of 11%.
Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang City Tourism Association, said that the current tourist trend has changed, mainly individual tourists, traveling in groups, families, and personal experiences, so the approach to the flow of tourists must also change.
Resolution No. 136/2024 of the National Assembly on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city, which allows Da Nang to establish a free trade zone. This is an advantage for tourism development and a new outlet for Da Nang tourism.
According to Mr. Cao Tri Dung, in the development orientation of Da Nang city until 2030, with a vision to 2045, Da Nang develops urban tourism associated with the marine economy. However, for many years, Da Nang has not had any real tours to the sea or bay. It is recommended that the city remove obstacles to exploit the potential of marine tourism.
Mr. Dung cited that Da Nang's sea tourism has many bottlenecks, such as the tour to Bai Nam currently being offered, but not allowing guests to leave the boat and go into the water. If they don't go diving to see the coral, they can't sell the tour. Da Nang Bay is very beautiful but still cannot be exploited because there are no stops and no diving allowed, while some localities have bays that they exploit very well. This is regrettable.
