Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry recorded signs of recovery right in the early days of 2026, creating a favorable foundation for the goal of high growth and sustainable development throughout the year.
According to statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, during the 4-day New Year holiday (January 1st - 4th), visitors to tourist areas and attractions in the city were estimated at about 1,240,000; international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City were estimated at 75,726; tourism revenue was estimated at 2,632 billion VND.
Revenue from accommodation, dining, shopping and entertainment activities all increased positively, contributing to creating a favorable starting atmosphere for Ho Chi Minh City tourism in the new year.

Stepping into 2026, the city's tourism industry sets a high growth target, aiming for in-depth development, improving quality and affirming the leading role of tourism nationwide. The focus is on continuing to implement the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Development Project to 2030, with the orientation of improving quality and diversifying products, focusing on the city's typical tourism products.
At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City focuses on developing new types of tourism such as green tourism, smart tourism, agricultural tourism, tourism associated with cultural heritage, urban heritage. At the same time, promote the construction of city destinations and tourism brands.
Promotion activities are also strengthened to access potential markets, especially Europe, America and the Middle East, in parallel with sustainable tourism development, environmental protection and preservation of indigenous culture.

Mr. Pham Huy Binh - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that Resolution No. 260 of the National Assembly (amending and supplementing a number of articles of Resolution 98) has opened up many new specific mechanisms and policies for the city. Along with a new development space, new position and new potential, this is an important basis for the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry to build breakthrough orientations in the coming period.
In 2026 alone, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry set a double-digit growth target, aiming for outstanding targets, commensurate with the city's role as the economic locomotive of the whole country.
Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism emphasized that the city will focus on developing key areas such as MICE tourism, waterway tourism, promote promotion, digital transformation in tourism and implement policies to support businesses.
In 2026, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry aims to welcome about 11 million international visitors, 50 million domestic visitors, with total tourism revenue estimated at about 330,000 billion VND.
