According to a report from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province, during the 10 holidays from April 24 to May 3, the total number of tourists is estimated at 203,012, an increase of 10.4% compared to the same period. Of which, international visitors reached about 25,543, an increase of 11.5%.
Total revenue from tourism activities is estimated at 187.8 billion VND, an increase of 14.7% compared to the same period last year. Average room occupancy rate at accommodation establishments reached over 60%, especially during the peak period from April 30 to May 3, many places reached 90% or more.
Mr. Duong Hoang Sum - Director of Vinh Long Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that tourism activities during this year's holidays achieved many outstanding results, thanks to proactiveness in management, improving service quality and ensuring a safe and civilized tourism environment.
According to Mr. Sum, tourist areas, attractions and service businesses have prepared good facilities, human resources, and diversified products. Experiences such as making folk cakes, visiting fruit gardens, going by boat, and exploring river life are of interest to tourists.
In addition, functional sectors strengthen inspection and handling of violations related to traffic safety, food hygiene, and fares. Waterway transport, bus stations, and wharves are closely monitored, preventing unreasonable price increases.
Security and order assurance, environmental sanitation and hotline to support tourists are maintained effectively. However, local congestion still occurs on some roads during peak hours, affecting the tourist experience.
