On the evening of November 18, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province informed about the decision to adjust a number of contents within the framework of the Red River Festival - Lao Cai 2025 due to unfavorable weather developments in many localities across the country and in the province.
Accordingly, the province will stop broadcasting the Opening Ceremony live at 8:00 p.m. on November 19 on Vietnam Television. No low-altitude fireworks will be held after the opening ceremony to ensure the safety of people and tourists.
The 2025 Red River Festival has the theme "Where the Red River flows into Vietnam", taking place for 7 days (November 18) in Lao Cai ward, Cam Duong ward and some communes and wards in the area. The event was chaired by the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, with the participation of provinces and cities in the Red River and Red River basin (Yunan, China).
The opening ceremony is expected to be held at Cam Duong Ward Square with the following contents: ceremony, opening speech, art program recreating the typical culture of the Red River. According to the original plan, the program will be broadcast live on VTV and rebroadcast in many localities along the basin, with low-altitude fireworks displays.
Within the framework of the Festival, many outstanding cultural and tourism activities will take place such as: space for experiencing ethnic culture, displaying culture and tourism of the Red River provinces; performing folk rituals; performing Lao Cai ethnic art; exchanging sports with Vietnamese and Chinese entrepreneurs and young people; recreating "Ancient Coc Leu Market"; 25th Vietnam - China International Trade Fair (Lao Cai).
A series of response programs were also organized, including: "Red River Festival" Golf Tournament, "One track - Two countries" International Cycling Tournament Hong Ha (China) - Lao Cai (Vietnam) and Lao Cai snow tea festival 2025 with the theme "Scent of tea on the cloud".
The 2025 Red River Festival is expected to bring a series of unique cultural and tourism activities, contributing to promoting the image of the land of "upstream river - mountain peak", while strengthening solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and China.
