On February 22, the coastal rescue force in Bai Sau area (Vung Tau ward, Ho Chi Minh City) said that during the 5 peak days of the 2026 Lunar New Year (from February 17-21), the force was on duty throughout, rescuing more than 100 cases in danger while swimming, due to being swept away by water or carelessly falling into swamps.
In the first days of the new year, the number of spring tourists flocking to the beaches in Vung Tau increased sharply, and at many times the beaches were packed with tourists. However, due to weather effects, the sea is often rough during this time, with many localized whirlpools appearing.
There are many cases of tourists encountering danger when swimming far from the shore, or being swept away by the water out of a safe area. These cases have been promptly supported by rescue forces, and no unfortunate incidents have occurred.

Mr. Le Tan Nghia - Deputy Director of Tam Hoang Thien Co., Ltd., a beach rescue unit in Bai Sau area - said that during Tet, the unit mobilized all forces to be on duty, from early morning to evening at the beaches. At the same time, lifebuoys, rescue boards, and water motorbikes are always ready to promptly approach emergency situations. The goal is not to let any unfortunate drowning incidents occur in the first days of the new year.
The force has reminded many cases to move to safe swimming areas. More than 100 cases found to be in danger have been quickly approached and brought ashore by the force.
The cases of passengers in danger - who had to be transferred to the hospital after first aid - have now stabilized their health. Ensuring 100% no deaths during the 5 peak days has contributed to helping people and tourists feel secure in swimming and spring travel in Vung Tau.
