The 5 millionth international visitor to Hanoi in 2026 is Ms. Piñas Piñas Maria Del Mar, Spanish nationality. She is the head of a delegation of 19 tourists participating in a 16-day journey to explore Vietnam.
We are very happy to come to your city right on the occasion of Hanoi celebrating 66 years of tourism industry development. We hope to have the opportunity to learn and explore Hanoi more, because this is our first destination when setting foot in beautiful Vietnam," the female tourist shared.

Ms. Piñas' delegation departed from Madrid, transited Doha before landing at Noi Bai airport at 1:55 PM on July 7. After experiencing in Hanoi, the delegation will continue to Sa Pa, Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay, Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City and Ben Tre.
On this occasion, on behalf of the city leaders, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Luu - Vice Chairman of Hanoi City People's Committee sent a congratulatory letter to Ms. Piñas Piñas Maria Del Mar and members of the delegation.
In the letter, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Luu shared: "I am very pleased to welcome you - the 5 millionth international tourist to Hanoi in 2026. This is a meaningful milestone, proving the strong recovery, deep integration and affirming the position of Hanoi tourism on the international map".
The Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee also used the famous Spanish proverb "Mi casa es su casa" (My house is also your house), and expressed his wish that Ms. Maria Del Mar and the members of the delegation would feel familiar and comfortable as if they were in their own homeland throughout their journey in Vietnam.
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Luu, Hanoi is developing in a green, smart and sustainable direction on the basis of preserving cultural and historical values. He hopes that the experiences of heritage, cuisine and people's friendliness will become a bridge to foster friendship between Vietnam and Spain, and hopes that tourists will continue to return to Hanoi in the future.

Present in the welcoming delegation, Mr. Dang Duy Trung Hieu - Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Tourism Association said that the welcoming ceremony for the 5 millionth international visitor is of special significance to the capital's tourism industry.
Through this event, we want to send a warm welcome to international tourists, and at the same time hope that Hanoi will be a starting point for tourists to have deeper experiences about Vietnam.
We hope that the experiences of nature, culture, people and destinations will leave many good impressions, thereby encouraging tourists to continue to choose Vietnam and return on their next trips," he said.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in the first 6 months of 2026, the Capital welcomed 18.01 million visitors, an increase of 15.7% compared to the same period in 2025; of which international visitors increased by 26.8%. Total revenue from tourists increased by 19.1%, continuing to affirm its position as one of the leading tourist centers of Vietnam.
In 2026, Hanoi continues to make its mark on the world tourism map when it was voted by TripAdvisor as the 2nd most loved destination in Asia in the Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Destinations 2026 category, ranked 4th in the Top 25 leading destinations in the world, 7th in the Top 25 cultural destinations and 11th in the Top 25 global culinary destinations. The city also ranks 8th in the list of 20 most attractive destinations in Asia voted by U.S. News & World Report and is included in Time Out's Top 50 best cities in the world in 2026.
The above results are expected to continue to create momentum for Hanoi to complete the goal of welcoming more than 31 million visitors, including over 9 million international visitors in 2026, making positive contributions to the development of Vietnam's tourism industry.
